Well, needless to say we had a great time at Animal Kingdom! It rained the 1st day we got there but it was the perfect opportunity to explore the hotel and catch up on some much needed rest- That night we all took the Disney shuttle to Downtown Disney and ate at Fulton's Crab House-- OMG- the food was so good-- Big crab legs, claws, stuffed shrimp- you name it! The next day we took Coleston & Luke to the Animal Kingdom park-- I'll tell you-- for 2 19 month old toddlers, they were such troopers! They both napped while we were at the park then just kept on trucking! Michelle and I are so lucky to have such cool little boys :) The safari ride had to the be the highlight of the day- We saw the most beautiful animals I think I have ever seen-elephant, zebra, hippos, rhinos & of course the King of the jungle...a gorgeous lion and his lioness! Absolutely spectacular!

From our hotel room we could see animals, too-- at the end of the day a little family of giraffes would come down and settle near our side of the hotel- Of course Coleston had to go in and out to see the "aminuhs"-- It was definitely worth it

Just a little in love.....

Every morning I wake up and find myself more and more in love with my little man. First of all, he is the HAPPIEST child I think I have ever been around. As soon as he opens his eyes he grins from ear to ear. He wants to know about Ashes, our (his) Great Dane. I think he knows that she is growing old and needs a little extra attention. Last night we were in the bed just winding down from the day and he went over and snuggled up against her. After a minute he kissed her on the head and said "Ashes, night-night" and gave her his "mee" (binky). I told him that Ashes didn't need his "mee" so he gets it says"here you go, Mommy" in his sweet baby voice. If I could only bottle up his sweetness.....

Have I mentioned how smart he is? Just a few things he has been saying...

  1. "here you go"

  2. "I whaa ooo"

  3. " Let's go!"

  4. " bike, helmet, vroom vroom"

The attempt with "I love you" is the best! He is so affectionate and gives the best hugs ever! Coleston, just want you to know that I love you more than you will ever know!

I stand corrected!

Last night after work I went to meet Eric & Coleston for dinner. We were over in the Vinings area so decided on Houston's ( my favorite!). Of course Eric ordered a ton of food- I have never seen anyone that can eat so much. We had spinach dip, 2 veggie burgers, a sushi salad & dessert. What I am more amazed by is what an adventurous eater my son is- let's see he ate spinah w/ artichoke hearts, salsa, some veg. burger, mangos w/ mint, raw ginger, fries, a tomatoe slice, brownie & ice cream. There is not a lot this kid will not eat. We are so fortunate!!
So Eric wanted to know about my blog- after I read him my first 2 posts he was a little peeved about the comment I made about me always getting up to leave the theater, restaurant, etc... Eric actually stood on the side w/ Coleston the other night when we were in the movies- so he's right- he does alot w/ our little guy. The man ADORES his son and vice-versa. Those guys are 2 peas in a pod....

Another "on-site" Saturday

Well, here I sit this Saturday afternoon overseeing my neighborhood. I have been employed as an on site real estate agent since December of 1998. I have worked for a few different builders during the last 9-10 years. What has been one of the most wonderful aspects of my job is the life long girlfriends I have made. The other agent that I work with now has been one of my closest friends and "business associates" ( that sounds so formal and sooooo not us) for as long as I can remember. She and I have shared quite a few life experiences together. We have lost parents, gotten married, started families all along side of each other. Our little boys are about 3 weeks apart in age. They are both such sweet little souls. We are taking a family trip to Orlando this Labor Day weekend- not sure who will be working in the neighborhood but "oh well"! We are staying at the Animal Kingdom park in the hotel that overlooks the Savanna. It looks truly amazing- supposedly we will have clear views of different animals like beautiful giraffes- I can't wait! I think Coleston will lose his mind!! I bought him some plastic safari animals so he could start learning to say "monkey", "giraffe", "hippo" etc. Well, he unloaded them onto the coffee table and within 5 minutes I noticed Ashes, one of our Great Danes gnawing on something in the floor. Our giraffe is now without legs! But anyway, Coleston is so cute- he takes the animals in the shower and plays with them on the shower seat. Once we go on our trip I will post some pictures. I really think that Coleston and Luke will have fun together. They are both so laid back and play well together.
I'm glad we have been somewhat busy today as it makes the time go by. I would really love to go see "The Dark Knight" tonight. It used to be so easy to go to the movies with Coleston. We would take a bottle and he would be asleep within minutes. Now he wants to get out of his stroller, climb the stairs, play with the lights on each step... You know just being a normal 18 month old boy. But I always said that I would never be the Mom that let my kid run all over the restaurant, theater, etc, and cry, scream or just be a nuisance to other people. I just pick him up and walk out. Notice how I say "I" pick him up and walk out not "my husband" leaves the theater. So needless to say we will not being doing that during "The Dark Knight" b/c I really want to enjoy all the performances in the movie, especially Heath Ledger's, Joker. I am always hoping that Eric's Mom will offer to babysit... that's another post-
OK- so next I am going to try to learn how to upload pictures to my blog-

My very first blog!

Today is July 12, 2008 & I am blogging for the first time- I know, I know I am sooooooo behind w/ everything. I have not blogged before b/c typically I am a pretty private individual. So this is more so I can reflect on all the different daily events that have been taking place recently. You see during the last year and half my life has taken on a different and deeper meaning--I became a mommy to the sweetest little man I think I have ever met!
For years my husband and I tried to get pregnant. I had thought that it would very easy for me to become pg b/c thankfully I had always been the picture of good health- no female issues at all, normal cycles.. all systems go! To make a extremely long, painful, hellish story short- several IVF cycles and tens of thousands dollars down the drain I still could not get or I should say STAY pregnant.
Fast forward to early fall 2006- we made the decision to talk to an adoption professional about the ins and outs of the adoption world. Within 3 weeks we were matched w/ our son's birth parents. January 4, 2007 the most amazing little boy was born- The most beautiful 8# 9oz I had ever laid eyes on. I could not believe that I was lucky enough to be his Mommy. Aside from my wedding day- this was THE BEST day of my life.
Now here we are 18 months later and my son, Coleston has taken my heart and stored it away forever. I thank God everyday for him- he has been a true blessing to our family. He is very healthy and smart as a whip! My love for him is so strong & I want him to always know that he is loved by so many people.
Especially me, his Mommy... he is my dream come true!
